Kids' Club currently serves elementary age students from the Heritage Square and Herndon Homes Housing Projects. We have 11 volunteers and a coordinator providing academic tutoring and homework help to 10 students 4 days a week. Our goal is to serve as many as 50 students, including an exploratory hour with extracurricular sports, dance, art, and computer activities.
Mission Our Mission is to provide our children with educational support to enhance their ability and skills. With small group and individual attention, our children will complete homework assignments from their schoolteachers, learn study skills, and reinforce their basic Reading, Language Arts, and Math skills. Through loving hands extended, our children will experience, then demonstrate Godly Character, appropriate social etiquette, and Christ-like love for others.
Vision Spirit-led, skilled, dedicated volunteers must give of themselves weekly. Communication between staff and volunteers is essential for an effective service to take place. Partnership between the City of Refuge staff and volunteers with local school faculty provides stability and consistency to best meet our children's needs.
Schedule: Kid's Club meets Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm - 5:30pm at the City of Refuge warehouse.
