Through resources available from City of Refuge and through relationships with other agencies we are able to provide immediate needs for the displaced. We attempt to deal first with their immediate needs (food) and then help them find long-term solutions (clothing, housing and jobs).

Service Referrals
Our goal as we try to serve the overwhelming needs of the community is to provide the best resource available. We are able to assist in the following areas:

  • ID/Drivers License
  • Birth Certificates
  • Job Assistance
  • Emergency food, food stamp referral
  • Emergency clothing
  • Medical referrals, Grady cards
  • Housing assistance, relocation
  • Rent assistance, Utility referral
  • Shelter referrals
  • Addiction recovery programs
  • Transportation – MARTA
  • Social security, Disability support
  • Family redeployment

Support Center
In order to provide for the overwhelming needs of the community it is necessary to have a “support center” screen the incoming requests. This is the first line of contact for those in need of assistance.
We are able to refer these people to either the City of Refuge resource or the agency best suited to provide for their need. As we grow our main need is for people to staff this “support center.” Our staff will direct people to the best resource available for their need.

Volunteer Opportunities
With the great needs of the community right outside our door, it is necessary to staff a support center. We are looking for volunteers for 4 hour shifts to help service and refer those in need. Our Support Center will be open Monday – Thursday 10:00am – 2:00pm. Please contact Tammy Queen for further
information.

Donation Opportunities
We are looking for people to sponsor individuals entering recovery programs for $125 a week. We are also looking for donations of backpacks stocked with toiletry items; socks and underwear; and stamps and stationary for men or women. Our goal is to distribute these backpacks to individuals entering recovery programs.
